Gathering of the Vibes Non-Perishable Food, Personal Hygiene Products, and Clothing Drive
2014 marked another epic response to our call for donations from the VibeTribe. Over the course of the weekend, festival attendees brought in a total of 8,575 lbs. of donations (8,031 lbs. of food and personal hygiene products and 524 lbs of new or gently used clothing.)
Food banks are more than just distribution centers, they are core to providing hope to the communities they serve. Empowering communities is the cornerstone of Terrapin Foundation’s mission statement, and the number one reason we continue to run food drives.
The bulk of donations gained at this year’s food drive went to the Connecticut Food Bank, with portions allocated to Bridgeport Rescue Mission and The Center for Women and Families.

Past Results and Future Goals
Since 1999 we’ve collected nearly 48,000 lbs. of food, which is over 24 tons. The average American eats 5.5 lbs of food each day, so we’ve collected enough to feed 24 people fully for one whole year. Or, to put it another way, the VibeTribe has donated enough food to provide about 26,000 individual meals over 14 years.
For those of you keeping score at home, here are the updated year-over-year results:

- 2001 = 1,200 lbs.
- 2002 = 1,350 lbs.
- 2003 = 1,860 lbs.
- 2004 = 940 lbs.

- 2008 = 4,930 lbs.
- 2009 = 5,555 lbs.
- 2010 = 5,011 lbs.

- 2013 = 4,690 lbs.
- 2014 = 8,575 lbs.
